Did you ever hear someone say, “We grew up the hard way” or “We learned the hard way” or “I went to the school of Hard Knocks”? Don’t you just hate those sayings? Used to drive me crazy. Especially when our parents used to say stuff like that. But think about it. When you were young(er), and a tough situation would arise, whatever it was, you dealt with it, and put it behind you and moved on. Now, as adults, we have this mindset that everything is going to be and should be easy and fall the way we want them. But it doesn’t. As a matter of fact, they seem to be greater problems of greater magnitude. We have family and financial obligations to answer to. And the “problems” seem to be monumentious, right? And to some extent, they are. Some are life and death. But most aren’t. Everyone, no matter who they are, no matter what walk of life they come from, are going to have problems, struggles… adversities in their lives. It really is a given. It’s how we handle and face them that makes all the difference in the world. You have a choice… kind of a fight or flight scenario if you will. Maybe even a reaction out of necessity. After all necessity is the mother of invention. Many great things have come to us through adversity. There was a problem that needed to be solved. If you approach it the right way, adversity can be an ally to you, if you let it. Sometimes we think ‘What possible good can come from this mess’? Maybe it is as simple as ‘I won’t do that again’!!! And there we have learned something. Maybe if we take an approach of “Ok… here is a problem. What can I do about it”? , instead of flipping out about it, we may just get some positive results and maybe soon, less bad will come our way. We tend to attract what we are focused on. So focus elsewhere!!!Right? Of course I am right. This is my blog. You wanna be right, get your own blog! Just kiddin’. So don’t let adversity rule your every breathe. Most of them are really not worth it and the ones that are, or at least seem to be major, take it in stride and learn and grow from it.
